ABSA MAD (Make A Difference) build a house project

Every year ABSA has this MAD build a house project, where they undertake to build a certain number of houses in a week. They then approach large organisations for donations, for the building materials and man power. Last year our Company (Bytes Managed Services) sponosered the building of three houses in Orange Farm. This year they sponsored two houses, and volanteers to go out for the day and assist
the qualified builders with the building by assisting with all the unskilled jobs, like throwing bricks for the buildiers to build with, mixing cement cleaning the mess up cleaning the garden, plastering and putting the roof on etc etc. Then every day for a week, plus minus 30 employees that volanteered go out for the day and help with the building. Yesterday was my departments turn (Payroll office), along with a number of other employees who volanteered. Here are some of the pics........

7h00 am, before leaving we were given breakfast packs, which had a cheese tomatoe and lettuce sandwich in, a yoghurt, a muffin, a jungle bar and a liqui fruit. We were also given gloves and hard hats

And we went home very stiff, very tired, very dirty with dust and sand everywhere
up our noses in our ears, We went home appreciating our homes very much.

I thought my children forgot my birthday, due to everything bad that happened on my birthday. Bad news we received, stuff happening at work.

But I were really surprised that evening when they told me that I must just go with them. We arrived at Chanelle house, where her mother karin and sister were waiting for us. So we left for the Kollenade shopping centre. We went to Ocean Basket. I even got a springbokkie to drink, and yes I did drink it.

The End of our Holiday 2 October 2009

This is the weather we had the whole week except
for one day on Wednesday.
Overcast and raininng and windy

And a Beautiful Sunny morning with the Sun rising over
the ocean this morning when we were leaving...Nice

On our way home, we stopped at the smallest church at
the top of Van Reneens pass.  Erected in 1925.
This church seats eight people.

The old Church Bell

The Tea garden, where we decided to have Tea/Coffee and Scones

The dining room inside

Tea/Coffee and scones and I had the nicest Lemon Meringue I've ever tasted

The scones piled with fresh cream and berry jam, all home made

My own little pot of Moer Koffie and Lemon Meringue, was to die for

The tea was served in the oldest silver Tea Set I've ever seen
in proper tea cups and the oldest cutlery every.  It was very
special

And the view from the Tea Garden,
with birds chirping, we sat there for ages it was just so peaceful
and relaxing.

More Holiday Pics From Ballito

Yesterday, Wednesday 30th September, was the only day that we got a little sunshine.
So we took advantage of it,  Richard and Chey joined us for the day.
So off we went to challenge the beach and the unrelenting wind and waves.

Don't be fooled by Percy's Pink kiddies Mug,
Take my word for it, that was not Juice in there.....
My juice bottle on the other hand, had Grape juice in it...heheehe

Cheyne and Richard

Aaahh......

Percy

Cheyne and I burying Richard in the sand

Cheyne just making sure Richard stays put.

I thought Richard was thirsty and shared my Grape Juice with him.

Oh look, there's feet growing on the beach.

Richard smirking at the camera, smile Richard

Taking a stroll along the beach

It was time to challenge the cold water

Richard and Mandy after been bucked by the waves

The sea took no prisoners, and threw me around like I was
a Ball.

Just catching my breath after being tumbled around like a stone

We ended the day by calling Johan and Ina, and went out for dinner
together, from there we went for a night cap at another restaurant
and we all went home around 22h30.
A very good day was had.
