The national CANSA Shavathon will take place on Friday, 6 March 2009 (workplaces) and Saturday, 7 March 2009 (public events at shopping centres).

Lets stand together as the HKGK Gang and do our bit for CANSA. Email me on gillian@homemakers-sa.co.za

BOAT TRIP

I think we as HKGK group must go on a boat trip. Wouter and Chanelle left 20/02/2009 to Mozambique Island. I think our "travel agent" that is organising our 2010 trip must do this also. The more practise the person gets the better.

Wouter left Friday and they are coming back Monday.

Mandy & Percy's Time Out Weekend Away

Hi Everyone,

Rather late than never, they say.....

After a very Busy, Hectic, working long hours, 2008, and a busy December Leave, our entire December leave spent having fun with family and Friends, and my long time School Friend, Liz, who came to visit from the Netherlands. (Hi Liz) practically 24/7.

Percy and I felt we needed Time Out, to chill, relax and do just nothing. No cooking, no cleaning, No nothing. So we spent 5 hours searching possible locations to go for a long weekend, using our holiday club points for the first time.

After searching the entire Limpopo, North West, Drakensburg and the entire Mpumalanga, there were ONLY TWO places in Mapumalanga that had open places for us, for last weekend. Can you believe that!!! "Out of Season", "Not school holidays", and absolutely all the resorts available on the Holiday Club and RCI are fully booked!!!

Nevertheless, we now had to choose between these two, one was up just other side Lydenburg, and the other, completely in the other direction, between Malelane and Komatiepoort.

So after weighing the two up against each other, we decided to go to Ngwenya Lodge, situated 15 km's from Komatiepoort, on the border of the Kruger National Park.

We took Friday and Monday off to make a long weekend. And off we went Last Friday.

It is a really beautiful resort, but extremely hot. For me it felt like, (for those of you who have been to Namibia), it felt as hot as it was in Namibia, but with Humidity added to it. The chalet had three air conditioners, we had all three running 24 hours a day. When you stepped outside the heat actually made you gasp for air.

Well, enough said, here are a few pics of our weekend.

This is somewhere between Waterval Boven and Nelspruit
Beautiful area, isn't it!

Going for a walk, to check out the place
And....This is who we met on our walk,
He was quite a big guy
This is a view from a look out point
Looking down the crocodile River
This was taken on Saturday
On Sunday all those grassy islands and the sandbank
was under water, that's how much the river came down over night
Yes!, My hammock went with,
But, Alas....I got to lay in it once
Because it was just TOOO Hot Outside

Now, here we were on our way to the Salon
for a full Body Massage...
Yes, believe it, I actually got Percy to go
Can you see the half hearted smile...

Unfortuanately this is the only proof that I have
that Percy actually went, I couldn't go in,
so I took a picture of the door.

This is one of the friendly guys that hang
around the Huge Beautiful Gardens
And very tame

This guy was not bothered that we were standing
there watching him, he just carried on grooming
he's feathers

5h00 am Sunday Morning, going on a Game Drive,
This is the Crocodile Bridge Gate to the
Kruger Park, as you can see it was flooded
we had to drive to Malelane to get in

We were in this open vehicle, on the N4 to Malelane
when we got there my hair looked like it had been
teased, and I had a hard time getting a comb through it.

My Favourite Animal. "the Ellie"
